Americans Sweden congratulates President and Founder Lauren Ell on the birth of her first child in the far north of Sweden in October 2019.
Her baby girl, Kajsa, was born healthy and has been growing fast! She will be five months at the beginning of March. She is already holding up her head, rolling on her stomach, holding items in her hands and laughing. Additionally she has been labeled a “long baby” by Swedish health providers because she has long legs.
Kajsa, pronounced “Kai-suh,” is a Swedish name that Ell has liked ever since she first heard it. It means “Pure,” and is a variation of the names Karin and Katarina. One of the most popular characters with the name Kajsa is Kajsa Anka, the Swedish name for the Disney character Daisy Duck.
Pregnancy and birth is a common discussion among Americans living in Sweden, as well as Americans who are planning to move to Sweden. Ell is happy to share her pregnancy and birth experience with Sweden’s public healthcare, and to answer questions based on her personal experience. She can also discuss how her baby has been observed by Swedish healthcare to insure she is healthy.
Keep in mind that insight Ell provides is not medical advice, and that those who are really concerned with their health should talk to their medical provider.
